This Privacy Policy describes how the developers of Monkey Monkey ("we," "us," or "our") collect, use, store, and disclose information when you play our virtual reality game on the Meta Quest platform or any related services (collectively, the "Game").

By installing, accessing, or using the Game, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.

01 — Information We Collect

What we collect when you play.

We collect only the minimum information needed to operate and improve the Game. This includes:

  • Meta Platform Identifiers: Your Meta-assigned user ID and display name, provided through the Meta Quest platform to enable multiplayer features and social interactions.
  • Gameplay Data: In-game actions, position data, player movement, scores, cosmetic selections, and lobby activity required to deliver the multiplayer experience.
  • Voice Data: Real-time proximity voice chat is transmitted between players in the same lobby. Voice audio is not recorded or stored by us; it is streamed live and discarded.
  • Technical and Device Information: Headset model, operating system version, IP address (for matchmaking and anti-cheat), session duration, frame-rate data, and crash logs.
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated and anonymized statistics about feature usage, performance, and stability, used solely to improve the Game.

We do not knowingly collect real names, email addresses, payment information, biometric data, eye-tracking data, or precise geolocation.

02 — How We Use Your Information

What we do with it.

Information collected is used exclusively to:

  • Operate, host, and maintain online multiplayer matchmaking and lobbies.
  • Enable in-game communication between players via voice chat.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to cheating, abuse, and policy violations.
  • Diagnose crashes, improve performance, and fix bugs.
  • Analyze aggregated usage trends to guide future updates.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing.

03 — Third-Party Services

Who else is involved.

The Game uses the following trusted third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Meta Platforms, Inc. — Authentication, social features, and platform services on Meta Quest devices.
  • Photon (Exit Games GmbH) — Real-time multiplayer networking and lobby hosting.
  • Unity Technologies — Game engine, crash reporting, and anonymous analytics.
  • Cloud Hosting Provider — Server infrastructure for matchmaking and game state.

We share only the data strictly necessary for these services to function. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to any other party.

04 — Children's Privacy

For our younger players.

IMPORTANT — COPPA NOTICE

Monkey Monkey is suitable for general audiences. We follow Meta's age requirements for the Quest platform. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in regions where applicable). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at the address below and we will promptly delete it.

Parents and guardians can manage their child's account and privacy settings directly through the Meta Quest parental supervision tools.

05 — Data Retention

How long we keep things.

We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes outlined in this policy:

  • Gameplay and account data: retained while your account remains active.
  • Crash logs and analytics: retained for up to 12 months, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Voice chat: not retained — streamed in real time only.
  • Moderation records (bans, reports): retained as needed to enforce community guidelines.
06 — Your Rights

What you can ask us to do.

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Request a portable copy of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis for processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address listed in the Contact section. We will respond within 30 days.

07 — Data Security

How we protect your information.

We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards including encrypted network connections (TLS), access controls, and restricted server permissions. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

08 — International Transfers

Where your data lives.

Our servers may be located in the United States, the European Union, or other regions. By using the Game, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.

09 — Changes to This Policy

When this policy updates.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify players through the Game or our official channels.
